Awards and Badges

In the Explorer Scout and Scout Network Sections you will have the opportunity of gaining many Awards and badges, including the Queen's Scout Award - the top Award in Scouting. You also have the chance to gain Duke of Edinburgh's Awards.

There are three main Awards. These follow on from the main Awards in the other sections:

Explorer Badges
  • The Chief Scout's Platinum Award.
  • The Chief Scout's Diamond Award.
  • The Queen's Scout Award.

To gain each Award, you need to:

  • be a Member for a period of time
  • complete some challenges
  • spend some nights away

More Awards and badges

There are Membership Awards for both Sections and an Award for moving from Explorer Scouts to the Scout Network.

For Explorer Scouts, there are a range of Activity Badges for you to achieve. For example:

  • Air Activities
  • Emergency Aid
  • Mountain Activities
  • Scouting Skills
  • Community
  • Lifesaver
  • Science and Technology
  • Water Activities

Staged Badges

Some badges are available to everyone aged 6-18:

  • Musician
  • Information Technology
  • Nights Away
  • Swimming

Explorer Belt

If you are 16 or over, you can gain the Explorer Belt by completing a ten-day expedition in another country.
