The Scout Troop has a number of trophies which the patrols compete for over the course of the year, both during meetings and on camp. Some of these are sporting competitions and others for scouting skills. More information about the trophies, including what they are awarded for and which patrols have won them in recent years is given below: The Isherwood Cup The Isherwood Cup is awarded to the winners of the Winter Scouting competition. The competiton is run in two halves, both run during a friday night meeting, the first being run in the Autumn term and the second in the Spring term. Winner 2005/6: Owls Patrol (PL: James Newton) Chapman Swimming Shield Awarded to the winner of the swimming competition. This competition is held in the Autumn term on a friday night in the school pool. Winner 2005/7: Herons Patrol (PL: Alistair Cannon) The Gregory Shield The Gregory Shield is awarded to the winners of the Summer Scouting competition. The competiton is run during a friday night meeting in the Summer term. Winner 2005/6: Curlews Patrol (PL: Hector Smethurst) The Whittle Trophy Awarded to the winner of the athletics competition. This competition used to be held in the Summer term on a friday night at school and is now held on Long Camp as the Camp Olympics. Winner 2006: Otters Patrol (PL: Alex Cruice) The Woodlands Trophy Named after our previous headquarters, the Woodlands Trophy is awarded to the patrol who makes the most effort in keeping their patrol room tidy and improving its condition throughout the year. Winner 2005/6: The Woodlands Trophy was not awarded this year. The Nightingale Cup The Nightingale Cup is awarded to the winners of the overall camping competition which is run throughout Long Camp. Points are awarded for things like Inspections, Night Marks, Cooking and Duty Patrol as well as some of the activities run on camp. Winner 2006: Otters Patrol (PL: Alex Cruice) The Greenhalgh Trophy Originally donated by the Group Scout Leader, John Greenhalgh, for a section camping competition the Greenhalgh Trophy is now awarded to the winners of the annual Masterchef Competition. This competition is held on Long Camp when the patrols compete to plan and perpare the best meal under camp conditions. Winner 2006: Bulldogs Patrol (PL: Andy Stimson) The Graham Award The Graham Award is awarded to the patrol which demonstrates the best scouting spirit over the whole year. It is awarded by the Scouters to the patrol who have showed good attendance throughout the year and who have worked well together in activities both during friday night meetings on camp. Winner 2005/6: The Graham Award was not awarded this year. |
