Welcome to the Scouts section of the 19th Bolton website. The Scout Troop is open to Senior School boys in Years 7 - 10 and we also have a number of senior boys who help out as Troop Leaders. The Scout section of the group meets at Brookside on friday nights from 7pm to 9.30pm and has a varied program including such things as traditional scouting skills, night hikes and navigation, outdoor cooking, games nights and Outdoor Pursuits such as climbing and kayaking. This section of the website contains information for current and prospective scouts as well as for parents and interested ex-scouts who would like to catch up with what the group is doing now. Please browse around for patrol lists, programs, photos of recent meetings, details of the competitions run throughout the year and information about Long Camp, the highlight of the scouting year. Subs are paid by all members of the Group and these go towards running costs, including the capitation fee paid to the Scout Association. Due to our good arrangement with school over the use of Brookside we are able to keep thses costs down to a minimum with the current level of subs being just £50, payable in September. For those parents who pay UK tax, filling in a Gift Aid form (available from John Greenhalgh) enables us to claim back approximately £14 extra per scout from the taxman, so we encourage as many people as possible to do this to further enable us to keep subs as low as possible. |
